Walnut

The more photos you take, the more you’ll start to see the world as if you’re looking through a viewfinder.  Good photos aren’t always the obvious ones.  While hiking last weekend, this shadow jumped out at me — the crisp shadows created a great contrast on the ground.  As you can see, the sunlight was direct and nearly vertical — absolutely horrible lighting conditions by most accounts.  In this case, though, this strong sunlight created a perfect image of the walnut tree above.  The high contrast here lent itself to a black & white conversion, so I converted to greyscale in Lightroom.

You can see the rest of the day’s shots here.
