Here's a pretty remarkable conjunction of expensive hobbies: a Radio-Controlled Helicopter camera mount. I saw a link to a pretty fantastic short movie created with this setup a couple weeks ago. This movie is technically impressive, having been shot on a Canon 7D suspended from a helicopter flying over the biker, but I think what was even more impressive to me was that the film showed really excellent cinematography, too.
I never quite got over the realization of what it took to put the camera platform together, but the film would definitely stand on its own for viewers who couldn't care less about how it was made. Still, I'd love to see a behind-the-scenes look at how this footage was captured. I wonder, for instance, if you need one person to fly the 'copter while another controls the camera gimbal. Cool stuff, indeed.
