It's been a while since I submitted anything to the StackExchange Photography "picture of the week" contest, and the way they handle the contest changed quite a bit since I last participated, but after quite a while in the "queue", this shot finally bubbled up to the top.

Incidentally, just like my last winning shot, this is a drastic crop from full-sized, but given the small dimensions of this banner, a very small file still works well.  Keep this in mind when shooting and processing your photos: not all of them have to work as a 20x30 wall-sized print.  It's also worth noting that if this had been a full-crop photo, much of the detail visible at 100% resolution might have been lost in the small crop.  Small pictures, especially need clear, obvious subjects -- easy to spot, and easy to take in at a small size.
